This is a rare opportunity to own the fabled Joshua Tree Inn, an enchanting, hacienda-style bed-and-breakfast hotel steeped in celebrity folklore. The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, John Wayne, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Emmy Lou Harris, John Barrymore Jr., the Eagles, Donovan, the Byrds and countless other celebrated musicians, actors, artists and entertainers have long sought refuge at the Inn. The setting of one of rock music's most legendary tragedies--considered hallowed ground by many--the Joshua Tree Inn is by far the most famous establishment in Joshua Tree and the High Desert. With its inviting warmth, charm and seclusion, it's no wonder that the Joshua Tree Inn draws the famous and not-so-famous alike. Each stylishly eclectic room boasts lofty, wood-beamed ceilings and a private patio. The Inn offers two luxurious, one-bedroom suites with dining areas, living rooms, and full kitchens--the Donovan suite (in which the musician has often stayed and rearranged the furniture) and the Barrymore suite. All rooms open onto a tranquil inner courtyard.

Gram Parsons The Joshua Tree Inn is the world-renowned "resting place of Gram Parsons' spirit." Parsons' short, legendary life ended at his favorite hotel in his favorite place--Joshua Tree. Devotees come from around the globe to pay tribute to Gram Parsons and stay in the notorious room 8, where Parsons died of an overdose of morphine and tequila in 1973. |

The room 8 guest book at the Joshua Tree Inn is filled with eulogies to Parsons. "Many people have been inspired by this man, and the music speaks for itself," writes one guest. "Gram couldn't have chosen a more peaceful place to lie. His spirit will live on in the hearts of many," reflects another. A moving entry by Gram Parsons' daughter Polly Parsons, who was seven when her father died, reads, "I know your beautiful angels' wings must reach far across the desert when you soar...for here you will always be truly safe at home." Gram Parsons had an abiding affection for Joshua Tree, which he visited as often as he could and stayed at the Joshua Tree Inn with his friends. He and Keith Richards, who still considers Gram Parsons a dear friend and musical hero, spent hours in what is now the Joshua Tree National Park "watching the sky for U.F.O.s." Gram so loved Joshua Tree that he told a friend that he didn't want to be buried when he died; he wanted to be burned in the Joshua Tree desert. His friend, Phil Kaufman, fulfilled that wish in a coffin-snatching-and-burning caper that astonished the world and remains immortalized in rock music lore. |

Joshua Tree abounds with natural wonder---infinite skies that shimmer from starry depths at night; jutting, rocky outcroppings upon which shadows shift from glowing dawn to fiery dusk; forests of kinky-limbed, other-worldly Joshua Trees; eruptions of mouthwatering wildflowers in the springtime; desert tortoises, bighorn sheep, coyotes, rabbits and other fauna. Not surprisingly, Joshua Tree National Park was the second-most visited national park in 2004 with 12.4 million visitors from across the planet. Many visitors stay at the Joshua Tree Inn and make daily excursions into the park, a seven-minute drive from the Inn. Thousands travel to Joshua Tree and the Joshua Tree Inn to participate in the "Gramfest", a yearly tribute to Gram Parsons. Still more people come for events like the three-day Joshua Tree Music Festival, the Coyote Fest, the Starry Nights Festival, the Didgeridoo Festival, Turtle Days, High Desert Test Site Artist Projects, and other happenings. Among interesting and quirky attractions in Joshua Tree and the High Desert are the Integratron, Giant Rock, the Institute of Mentalphysics, the High-Desert Nature Museum, and the Oasis of Mara. Whatever brings them to Joshua Tree, those who visit never forget it and return often.
